who were oppressed by tyranny.

Tyranny:
A government in which a single ruler is vested with absolute power;
a form of government in which the ruler is an absolute dictator (not
restricted by a constitution or laws or opposition

Dictatorship:
Unlimited rule, totalitarian government, fascist government, or rule
a form of rule in which absolute power is concentrated in a

dictator/person
