Subj : idea To : All From : "Time Warrior" Date : Wed May 28 2003 12:24 pm An idea to suggest to the author of whatever BBS Software you run. There should be a function, that when the Sysop is doing a message scan, that they can hit a button to report spam. This would put that sender and subject on a local block list for the BBS, maintined by a util that runs on an event, and also send a carbon copy of the message, the newsgroup name, and a copy of the newsgroup rules text file (if available) to: admin@domain.com/net/org administrator@domain.com/net/org abuse@domain.com/net/org contact@domain.com/net/org webmaster@domain.com/net/org sysop@domain.com/net/org 1@domain.com/net/org With a message that says: Dear Sysop or Administrator, The following user, spammer@domain.com, has been spamming in the "newsgroup name" Newsgroup on UseNet. This is a violation of the rules for this group. A carbon copy of the message, along with as much information about the user as possible, has been sent to you. Please try to identify this user, and make sure that this does not continue to happen. My sincerest thanks, Sysop, Your BBS I'm thinking this is a good idea.
