I disagree.  Other then the basics, FreeBSD has very little open development 
going on.  I personally prefer the opensource model that most things Linuxie 
has embrased.

Other then the kernel there isn't that much difference.  They both use the same 
basic Unix utilties and philosophy.  The biggest difference is opensource 
philosophy thrives on Linux and less so on the BSD's.

More freedom with Linux which adds up to longer rope.  ;-)
