Subj : minicom To : ALL From : WILLIAM HURN Date : Sat Nov 17 2001 01:30 am I'm having a little problem getting minicom to install in FreeBSD 4.4. It is not in the packages on the CD and when I try to install the port I get the error: ===> minicom-1.83.1_2 is forbidden: Local exploit yielding setuid uucp. The comms package directory has several items indicating potential for local modem contacts but I don't know what the various packages are. For example I did recognize kermit as being included as well as the Zmodem support program lrzsz. Anyone using a FreeBSD modem program, other than minicom, for local BBS, etc.? I have seen the DOS version of kermit and it's pretty wild. It was intended for communicating with mainframe computers and included a kermit protocal for that purpose but could also be used for Znodem calls to a BBS, etc. There are a half-dozen choices in the comms packages. I could post a list, if that would help. .... Win 95, 98, NT, Linux, FreeBSD & whatever else there is! --- MultiMail/FreeBSD v0.41 * Origin: Try Our Web Based QWK: DOCSPLACE.ORG (1:18/140) .
