I worked with a hosting-service before, and when we (that means me and one of my friends who I shared the responsibility with) wanted to see how Apache performed under high load. After intentionally making it as bad as possible (a PHP-script fetching information from the local postgresql-daemon on /every http-request/) we simply used a perl-script to request the document 200 times. We had approx. 80 instants of the script running simultaneously. There was no timeout-values for the "client", so all the requests were answered, but the server was unusable for more almost 45 minutes. Working in a terminal on a modemline is bad, waiting more than a minute for each keystroke at the console is not very good either... // Pierre --- * Origin: Braindead (2:203/159.16) .
