Basically it comes down to FreeBSD being able to do "statefull" packet filtering, which is a property that Linux has also aquired in the 2.4.* kernal versions, whether it is as good as the now mature version in FreeBSD, is unknow and debateable. This all from memory, might be a little confused. RT>> and that FreeBSD needs to be installed into it's own Primary RT>> Partion (slice), RJT> Hm, I wasn't aware of that requirement. At least, I could give you something new. :-) RJT> I'm not necessarily going to take the time to try and get a hold of RJT> all these and try them out, I don't have the time, but I'd at RJT> least like to get more of a handle on it than I have now. Me too, wouldn't mind having a copy of Solaris 8 (5.8?), there is a free version that one can get, easily if one is in the USA, but here it is more trouble than it is worth to me. Not worried about the others yet. :-) Want to get my e-mail an Usenet reading onto either a Linux or FreeBSD box SOON, then I can start playing with other things, on either of these OS'es.
