Subj : copy images under OpenBSD To : Jasen Betts From : Lawrence Garvin Date : Wed Nov 29 2000 12:03 pm Jasen Betts said in a message to Lawrence Garvin: LG> and note how many blocks are read -- which will tell you the size LG> of the image in K JB> Yeah, but Ulrich said he got sizes in the gigabytes when he tried JB> that... Yeah.. I read that. I think he did something other than do a dd of the CDROM. :-) I've never ... -never- ... seen a case where dd was required to know the size of the object prior to the execution of the copy. Even -if- that were the case, it's a simple matter to define the maxsize as 1280000 blocks (640MB of 512 byte blocks). Of course.. if he misinterpreted the count of 512 byte blocks as Kbytes, then I can see where one might hit 1000000 blocks on a 500MB CDROM and think it was a GigaByte. --- * Origin: lawrence@fido.eforest.net | The Enchanted Forest (1:106/6018) .
