Depends on the xx. 95/98/ME are "DOS w/extensions", though each subsequent release has done more and more to hide/blur/contradict the fact. NT/W2K/XP are true 32-bit preemptive multitasking environments which emulate DOS rather than consume/coincide with it...just like OS/2. In fact, they are merely MS's continuation of the work they were paid by IBM to do on OS/2 after the rift over whether the Windows GUI would be =the= GUI for OS/2. And the key to interoperability is to think =union= of the sets and not =intersection=. You don't have to lose anything "in favor of OS/2 and DOS compatibility"...just strive to maintain "Maximus/Squish compatibility". That may mean the introduction of a new keyword to introduce a new behavior that is only meaningful in one of the 4 supported environments instead of hacking the usage of an existing one, but that approach is how Scott's utils made it onto the 3 ports that already exist. ..\\ike --- GoldED/2 2.50+ * Origin: -=( The TechnoDrome )=- Austin,TX 512-327-8598 33.6k (1:382/61) .
