Subj : Compression question To : Bob Jones From : Peter Knapper Date : Wed Jul 23 2003 11:55 pm Hi Bob, BJ> You're also reminding me of something I do here that BJ> impacts how Squish works under my OS/2 setup.... I BJ> serialize (almost) all my squish and related processing.... I also serialise all mail processing by Squish (running OS/2 on a single machine) using a single mail processing task and "flag" files that control WHAT I want each run to do. However its not easy to include all Mail traffic handlers (EG Binkley, BinkD, etc) into the same controls in all situations, you can reach a situation where one of them misses such activity, hence why I force everything to HOLD, then "release" the traffic after the mail processing work. Its elimintaed 99.999% of the clashes for me....;-) BJ> that's my current opinion. How I keep things from BJ> clobbering each other is I do run a semiphore / BJ> processing lock, to keep my script that runs squish BJ> clean and only allowing one execution at a time, and BJ> this also forces all my third party applications to run BJ> when Squish is not running..... Yep, same here... Cheers............pk. --- Maximus/2 3.01 * Origin: Another Good Point About OS/2 (3:772/1.10) .
