What do you mean the front end "errors  out"?  There are issues with passing a 
hot com port (your modem) from one program to another program in a windows 
environment....  One of the methods (using batch file error level exits) to 
transition between programs that works in DOS, I believe won't work in Windows 
(at least not in older versions of Windows).  You have to pass the com port 
handle with out dropping to a command line prompt, similar to how you pass the 
handle in an OS/2 setup, and not like how the old DOS batch set up worked.

What are you using for a FOSSIL?
