Subj : Win XP To : Dale Shipp From : Bob Jones Date : Sun Oct 20 2002 11:46 am DS> I am in the process of attempting to move my BBS system from one DS> computer to another. On the current computer, I am running OS/2 Warp DS> 3, with the SIO drivers etc. I have the combination of IM frontend, DS> Maximus and Squish, using maxp and squ386p. DS> The system I am going to be using will be running Windows XP home DS> edition. DS> I have tried copying all of my files over, and then installing the DS> Maximus and Squish for DOS, using max and squish instead of maxp and DS> sq386p. I am trying to set up shortcuts to run the various programs DS> in a CMD window. It has not all worked yet. Switch to the NT version and not the DOS version of Squish and Max. The DOS version has some lower limits than the OS/2 version. So, if you have some large file bases, maybe the DOS version is having trouble because of a message area size. The NT version I believe has similar limits to the OS/2 version. And have you applied the Y2K patches after the base install on the Windows XP system? Also, there are issues with running a front end with Maximus in a windows environment. Are you having any problems passing the modem port from your front end to Maximus? If not, then that set of issues isn't your problem. Fair warning, I have not tried to run the software in a Windows XP enviornment, so I don't know what type of "gotchas" might be specific to the latest version of windows. Good luck.... Take care.....
