Subj : What does Memory mean? To : All From : Mike Luther Date : Sat Nov 24 2001 01:18 pm Please consider this log snip from my Squish Log. Why is mem= decreasing with runs of Squish? This is SQ386P for OS/2.. + 24 Nov 03:00:01 SQSH Begin, Squish/386 v1.11 (mem=500496K - main=00020010) # 24 Nov 03:00:01 SQSH Scanning messages # 24 Nov 03:00:01 SQSH Packing from C:\Msg\Net (145 msgs) : 24 Nov 03:00:05 SQSH Packed=0 + 24 Nov 03:00:05 SQSH End. Toss=0 (0/s), sent=0 (0/s), mem=500412K + 24 Nov 03:05:01 SQSH Begin, Squish/386 v1.11 (mem=500488K - main=00020010) # 24 Nov 03:05:01 SQSH Scanning messages # 24 Nov 03:05:01 SQSH Packing from C:\Msg\Net (145 msgs) : 24 Nov 03:05:04 SQSH Packed=0 + 24 Nov 03:05:04 SQSH End. Toss=0 (0/s), sent=0 (0/s), mem=500404K + 24 Nov 04:00:01 SQSH Begin, Squish/386 v1.11 (mem=500484K - main=00020010) # 24 Nov 04:00:02 SQSH Scanning messages # 24 Nov 04:00:02 SQSH Packing from C:\Msg\Net (145 msgs) : 24 Nov 04:00:05 SQSH Packed=0 + 24 Nov 04:00:05 SQSH End. Toss=0 (0/s), sent=0 (0/s), mem=500400K Is this telling me that SQUISH is finding less memory each time it is run,or that it is a memory leak, or that we have a leak somewhere else in the game between this and that? In this case the .CMD file which runs the whole show *IS* required to call a DOS-VDM application as part of the message handling squence! I cannot replace the tool with any native OS/2 application at all and am stuck with it here. I haven't added, among other things, a memory trace routine at all after each and every use of anyting in the batch file. But I could. As well, although I do have THESEUS, I really don't know enough about that game to use it, but would, sigh, go down that pig trail if I had to, I guess.. sigh .. Thank you!
