Subj : Release of TWA Files To : All From : The Mad Hatter Date : Tue Jan 07 2003 10:36 pm DH: Why shouldn't I release a TWA file of a game that I think is neat so players who don't use my server can have fun with it too? There've been a wide variety of TWA files released by some very talented people. If I see one that I like, and the author has released it WHY SHOULDN"T I RUN IT ON MY SERVER? Res (who people love to hate) does some really mean edits, and has released several TWA files (TWChess being my favourite). Res gives more back to this community than most of the people who post here. As to tournaments, league games, or private games - I would prefer to leave release of the file up to the Game Op. If he/she wants to, that's fine. If they don't, that's their choice. The Mad Hatter >From a message by Dark Helmet about Re: Apology to Silver: > In the begining I saw the same thing. As it went on, I was under the impression the SG didn't want anybody to play. I agree that SD should release the twa file. For the ONLY reason that he originally said he was. In a general sense, I don't think the twa file should be made available to just anybody. A person spends alot of time and energy creating a game, why should just anybody take that and bang a game on their own server. That person is getting credit for a great game even though they put no effort into creating it. It would be just like downloading an entire website and using it as my own. I think that SD has decided to not release it and has set that decision in stone. I don't think that SG, me, you or anybody else should badger him to the extent that he has been over it. It is his decision and if you don't like it, say you don't, explain why and leave it at that. SG feels so strongly about his point on this matter and he shouldn't play. I don't play in the USO for several reasons. This isn't one of them though. Maybe I see this because of my bias against SG, I dunno....
