Subj : USO Rule #4 To : All From : Space Ghost Date : Mon Dec 30 2002 07:22 pm I am a little worried that Rule number 4 in this years uso is just to ambiguous. The rules state 4)- NO DUPING A>- A real live person must sign up for their own unique, single account. **This is a good thing!!!** B>- The owner of an account is the only one who is allowed to have that account's password, log in to that account. *** This is a Good thing too!!!! C>- The owner of an account MAY NOT allow another person to directly control his account, whether by telnet proxy, VNC, or otherwise. (subspace script commands are allowed within reason). *** Umm Exactly how will this rule be enforced??? Who will determine who is using a vnc/netmeeting. And exactly how will this be determined??? Also what is considered with in reason?? What is considered out of reason?? And when will this determination take place???? D>- The owner of an account MUST have created that account, and joined the USO game with the intention of actually playing the game. **ok i like this too though it does seem a bit strange E>- Regardless of the fact that a player maintains control of his own account and starts up his own scripts, the player must still play his/her own turns his/her self. (Not entirely sub space scripted) ****** Not entirely?? what does this mean?? who determines the entirety of it all???? How will this be determined???? In short i really hoped that last years problem would be overcome this year by excluding UNENFORCEABLE RULES..Honestly one day the sysop wakes up in a bad mood and decides this person broke the rules.. He can offer no proof cuz well there is no proof to be had.. Saying that the rule should exist even though its unenforceable is well.... naive to say the least.
