That's who verizon is using as a part of that package they're offering -- see 
verizon.com...

Because of the way they do things -- their inclination to "bend" standards to 
directions that make problems for those who are running non-m$ operating 
systems,  for example.

One that I just bumped into yesterday was emails containing only HTML code,  
for one example.  Them and AOL are probably most responsible for that...
