Wel you NEED to READ the BOX. It plainly says U.S. Robotics
They were owned for a while by 3Com but they were spun off.
SAME modems, Same Engineering, Same everything.
Even under the 3com name they were STILL U.S. Robotics Modems.

And the Hardware Models are STILL being Sold. IT was the Hardware
External Serial Moem that I saw at FRY's.
The Price was $99 by the way.
