EV>Tom, I didn't know that the White Sportsters were v.90. EV>I have a White external 56K Sportster Fax/Modem with the number USR5686D EV>on the bottom of it. I thought it was a v.92 modem when I bought it. EV>So I turned it on to give it a ati7 command in Hyperterminal and under EV>Configuration Profile... - Options it lists: EV>V32bis, V.80, V.34+, x2, V.90, V.92 EV>I first tried looking at the setting in Control Panel - Modem - EV>Diagnostics - More Info but the right hand side of the Options line was EV>cut off, so I had to fire up Hyperterminal to view the WHOLE line. ;-) EV>I'm just wanting to add to the discussion, I'm not wanting to EV>begin a argument about White vs. Black Sportsters being or not being EV>V.90 or V.92. Your Modem has been upgraded I suspect. USR does offer a FREE upgrade to v.92 for the owners of the White external sporsters and several other models. I had Both Models myself. I sent to White v.90 off to a friend and stil have the Balck sporster. In fact it is stil in the box having never been used. But as another has already said I am holding it in reserve in case my old USR Courier dies. And at some $300 PLUS for a new one thast makes it something I cannot afford. --- þ SLMR 2.1a þ This note from El Cajon California USA * Origin: Try Our Web Based QWK: DOCSPLACE.ORG (1:123/140) .
