Subj : NASA, shuttle, anyone? To : ROY J. TELLASON From : CHARLES ANGELICH Date : Thu Aug 25 2005 08:40 pm 123c72502a32 tech Hello Roy - --8<--cut CA>> For the billions of dollars spent there _should_ be CA>> something impressive there and not just a "Gone to Lunch" CA>> sign. :-( RJT> Heh. That's funny, the first time I read it I read "gone RJT> to launch"... We wish they could launch now and then but lately ... RJT> It's amaxing how little actually made it to orbit, RJT> considering the amount of hardware they threw up there. There _is_ a great deal of 'junk' orbiting and we have people who spend their days tracking it so we don't run into any of it (hopefully). RJT> And I don't think the expertise exists to do that these RJT> days, if we wanted to for some reason. It has been said and admitted to by NASA that they no longer employ people with sufficient skill sets to design replacements for the existing shuttles. I often wonder what skill sets they _do_ get for the billions of dollars being spent each year. > > , , > o/ Charles.Angelich \o , > <| |> __o/ > / > USA, MI < \ __\__ --- * ATP/16bit 2.31 * ....
