You mean the "repair tech" only approached it from the standpoint of replacing a whole board? Heck, I used to do component-level repair on all that stuff. In fact, in my pile of scrap here I had an Epson printer, just did a number on that particular board a while back... Of course, tracing it to an individual component gets a whole lot easier when you have some service data to work with. Is there much market for repair of this stuff?
