In my original install of Slackware 4.0 I was able to install *everything* and still have some room left over on a 1G drive. In later versions this was not the case, but when I set up my firewall/router box I used an 80M drive, took a small swap partition out of that space, and of the 60-some-odd-meg left I still had room left over, which eventually got eaten by the log files almost totally just before that drive went west on me this past monday. And that was Slackware 8.0... I now have a new install that's slack 10.0, and it's taking up somewhat more room, but I need to go in there and clean things up a bit, and lean it out a great deal. I'm sure there's stuff in there as a part of the default install that I don't need. --- * Origin: TANSTAAFL BBS 717-838-8539 (1:270/615) .
