Subj : Linspire update To : ALL From : THURSTON ACKERMAN Date : Sat Jul 16 2005 05:25 pm Some of you may recall I bought a PowerSpec05 with Linspire 4.5 O/S installed from MCI. After some bench burn-in time (whilst I also got some gardening done 8-) I decided to use the CNR (download and install service that came with 3 months use free in my purchase) service to upgrade the linspire 4.5 to the more recent Five-0 version (avoids redoing some other progarams if I had done it afterwards 8-( The fat .iso file download and burn to operating CD went FB on my SustemaxTiger and its W98se (also includes a Live CD ability if one wants to take a look at linspire); but the installation hung up at about 29% completetion. With some online assistance from the linspire tech support (and having the instuctions displayed for these weary eyes on the W98se PC) finally resulted in a joyfull version Five-0 now running. Now the struggle continues making it recognize the CD drive that came with it and the USB SmartDisk external floppy drive I added. Looks like an interesting O/S (and challange that reminds me of earliest Windows O/S setups, to help keep my juices running 8-) Ciao, Ack. --- þ SLMR 2.1a þ Electical engineers do it til it Hz * Origin: Try Our Web Based QWK: DOCSPLACE.ORG (1:123/140) .
