Subj : cleaning old 78 vinyls ? To : ROY J. TELLASON From : TOM WALKER Date : Sat Jun 18 2005 11:12 am RJT> TW> Some nowdays rip them to Wave files and burn a CD for playing. And RJT> TW> for the real purist in a magazine recently I saw an Blip on a RJT> TW> $15,000 Laser Beam turntable. NOTHING except the Laser touches the RJT> TW> Recorded Grouve. :-) RJT>I saw that once, way too much money! If they can put a laser into cdrom RJT>drives and other stuff they sure as heck oughta be able to do that cheaper, RJT>well. I guess no demand, though, or something. RJT>It'd be kinda nifty, anyhow! It is basicly a VERY low production Hand Built unit. The one I saw also uses Three Lasers. Incidently I ran across a site that would convert the Old Edison to Wave files for preservation. And supprisingly an outfit in England still produces the Cylinders. www.tinfoil.com Check it out. Adn for yuo Young Kids out there he chose the name of "Tinfoil" for his site name becasue some of the Earlest Recordings WERE made on Tinfoil. --- þ SLMR 2.1a þ This note from El Cajon California USA * Origin: Try Our Web Based QWK: DOCSPLACE.ORG (1:123/140) .
