JP> The whole article dumped to my printer, Tom. Very good and full of JP> nice information. Particualrly note the Smal but Important differencesbetween the "Float Voltages" for the two types of cells. Floating peohaps is the Biggest destroyer of NiCad and NiMH battereis becuase of inadequate current control and the resultant heating. This is particualrly true for batteries left in the Charging Stand most of the Time. The KEY is to have a fairly good "Regualted" Power Supply. The Curreent control itself after that is Deceptavely Simple. You just put a Resistor in series that will LIMIT the short circuit current of the power supply to the Value you want, C/10, C/5 or the desired current. This crude system basicly works becasue the internal Resistance of the Batteries are very low as evidenced by their very high Short Circuit Current capabilities. --- þ SLMR 2.1a þ This note from El Cajon California USA * Origin: Try Our Web Based QWK: DOCSPLACE.ORG (1:123/140) .
