Subj : cleaning old 78 vinyls ? To : TOM WALKER From : WAYNE CHIRNSIDE Date : Thu Jun 16 2005 06:02 pm -> WC>BTW I used to copy my vinyl LP onto reel top reel tape playing them -> WC>through once than returned the LP's to their sleeves. -> That was a popular thing to do for real collector items. Some nowdays -> rip them to Wave files and burn a CD for playing. And for the real -> purist in a magazine recently I saw an Blip on a $15,000 Laser Beam -> turntable. NOTHING except the Laser touches the Recorded Grouve. :-) I've seen one of those. The one I saw was offered for sale quite a few years ago at about half the price you cite but as the numbner of LP's declined and unit sales diminished I imagine that drove the price up. Want to feel OLD? Ask a kid if he's got any LP's to play on his turntable. Likely he'll stare at you in confusion with no idea what you're talking about. Todays kids demand instant random access not the time consuming sequential access we dealt with, LP's, 45's, 78's, 8 track ( yuck), cassette, ( semi yuck) and reel - reel. --- Platinum Xpress/Win/WINServer v3.0pr5 * Origin: Try Our Web Based QWK: DOCSPLACE.ORG (1:123/140) .
