The pin type seem to use all numbers, while the board-edge type have been known to use numbers on one side and letters on the other, for at least some applications. Me too, with the newer, quarter watt and smaller parts. Yellow-purple-brown _would_ be 470 ohms, though. Seems like the manufacturers of resistors are using more colors that are "ambiguous" lately.
