I was actually a little further along than that -- I got as far as copying the entire contents of that one partition to another drive. But it would't boot. So at that point I thought that perhaps trying an fdisk /mbr or similar would do the trick. Then I started running into problems with floppies, and similar nonsense. Eventually it just got to the point where I decided that I didn't need those diagnostics that badly, and I proceeded from there to a linux install that's mostly complete. I just need to actually mount the HD after removing the original one, see what ram I have to add some more if possible, and finish up on the software side, like installing firefox and doing whatever other tweaks I need to do in config files. Dunno why HP's ISO is as big as 159MB! --- * Origin: TANSTAAFL BBS 717-838-8539 (1:270/615) .
