Intel has placed its bets for the future on its Pentium 4 processor,
launched this Monday amidst great fanfare. The chip features, amongst
other things, a 20- stage pipeline as opposed to the 10-stage pipeline of
the Pentium III architecture. And if nothing else, the rollout comes with
a nomenclature shift from Roman to Arabic numerals... welcome to modern
times!
