After the initial CRACK, there's not much left in the zapper, unless your model has the B+ permanently connected. Mine had a two position switch, Charge - Zap. After a few years though, I gave that up and went to direct zapping from a 12V car battery. You gotta wipe that cable FAST and FIRM though, as it tries to weld itself to the cell, and they HEAT _very_ fast that way!!!
