Subj : DOS TCP/IP and zmodem To : HOWARD EISENBERGER From : CHARLES ANGELICH Date : Mon Sep 11 2000 06:39 am 1230d333e381 tcpip Hello Howard - HE>> [Pony's Corral] Password still not accepted by ftp server. No HE>> response yet from sysop. HE> Ditto. Ditto. Now I've run out of credits to test zmodem HE> downloads. Any further bbs testing will be carried out on my bbs HE> here. If the sysop is interested in setting up his/her BBS properly and they are told that you are attempting to help determine the proper settings they will sometimes give you credits and a bit more time online to allow you time to test the system. Unfortunately the trend is to list as many protocol as possible in the files area even if the majority of them do not work (some won't even complete the handshake for the protocol). 8( HE>> dialup to local FreeNet (FreePort menu) - telnet to bbs - HE>> zmodem download failed * - telnet to 2nd FreeNet - zmodem HE>> download failed * - kermit download successful HE>> dialup to unix (BSD) shell account at ISP - telnet to bbs - HE>> zmodem download failed * - telnet -8 to bbs - zmodem download HE>> successful - telnet to bbs, set binary - zmodem download HE>> successful HE> * by setting "escape control characters yes" in the my DOS HE> terminal program's (Conex) built-in zmodem, these tests were HE> successful. I'm curious about what hardware you are using with CONEX and what transfer rates you can achieve when compared to a direct dialup transfer using the same hardware with CONEX. Can you also upload using CONEX with this setup? I can download using zmodem from Internet telnetable BBS but, so far, uploading using zmodem is a no-go here and I'm using OMEN TECH software so it's not the zmodem at my end that is the problem. 8( > > , , > o/ Charles.Angelich \o , > <| AngelFirecom |> __o/ > / > USA, MI < \ __\__ --- * ATP/16bit 2.31 * ....
