It is something called the Boston Library Consortium Gateway ws> server, some sort of terminal server and scripting combination hybrid. I assume you use a terminal program to dialup this server. In order to use FNOS (or any TCP/IP application) you need a SLIP/PPP connection. How do you normally download files to your PC with this service? ws> I tried connecting to the BBSs domain name with a TELNET :22 ws> and then attempt to start up FTP. FNOS returned the diagnostic ws> "Looking for local connection..." and then hung. Without a SLIP/PPP connection, you can only use the clients on the Gateway, not FNOS. If the server allows you to telnet to port 21, you might be able do ftp between the Gateway and the bbs, but you'll still have to transfer the files from the Gateway to your PC.
