Tuesday August 21 2001, SHARON AIKEN writes to MARIO GIANFORMAGGIO: SA> You did not understand my "Cluttered".. I don't mean the messages them SA> selves are cluttered, but the amount of message bases (or conferences SA> or echoes or what ever they are called), there are to wade through on SA> most of the Fidonet boards trying to find one you might want to read. I think this is a technical problem. Usability is a technical problem. You don't have to search always for a conference. The BBS software should propose to the user a detailed list of conference (not just the tag name) and the user should choose in a simple way, in a few time, one or more conferences interesting for him/her. Then the next time the user connects to the bbs he/she don't have to choose conference at all, just read the messages. In Italy we have about 100 message areas in local language, but about 30 are really used. So the bbs are not crowded of message areas. SA> Anyway.. I will leave you in peace to enjoy your SA> echo/conference..what SA> ever.. Nice to have chatted some with you.. Sorry I am not able to explain what is Fidonet. Fidonet is a community of sysops. If you will join Fidonet I am sure you will find something of interesting, not just messages, but people. I use Internet for sending and receiving Fidonet messages, but Internet for me is a "media", or a resource, not a community. In Fidonet everyone will find a friend can help him/her. Or if you prefer to flame you can find a good enemy to have a flame war :-)) If you don't have the time to chat with me I can understand, but please let the other sysops to explain their Fidonet experience.
