Subj : Config checker To : All From : Finnigann Date : Thu Jul 07 2005 06:26 pm If you are familiar with OS2, You maybe familiar with a program that analized the config.sys file and made recomendations for corrections. The program displayed YOUR choice and presented others and explained why one was better than the other(s). Anyway, is such a program possible for Synchronet? Analize your setup and make recomendations as needed, and putting them into place as you go. Take the item 'My New BBS' and if this is still inplace, recomend a change. It could detect faulty settings regarding as to mail or web etc. It could go thru doors and make sure directories specified were in fact in existance and the called exeicutibles are in the correct places. Same for text files if any are in place. Some sort of abbreviated check could be part of the MAIN. Just to make sure nothing has altered things with out permission (or to track down some of the more common mis-cues.) I think everyone will admit, Sync is so much more than a BBS, it's going to be harder for beginnning sysops (and some of us, not so new) to keep up with everything that's possible for Sync to do. Thanks for reading this far... .... I'm not a complete idiot, some parts are missing. --- MultiMail/Win32 v0.46 þ Synchronet þ Bits-N-Bytes BBS Onehellofa BBS bnb.dtdns.net .
