Hrm... not sure about that one... currently, F2 will edit if F2 is available...
the reason for CTRL-E/CTRL-D is that curses and ANSI IO versions cannot handle
ALT keys at all.

The submenu is right out... it'd drive me nuts and I refuse to add a feature I
don't like.  :-)
