Slackware 10.0 has /usr/bin/gmake as a symlink to /usr/bin/make.  There 
There is no man-page for gmake, but 'man make' returns a page that starts 
with:

	NAME
		make - GNU make utility to maintain groups of programs

So it seems Slack has similar treatment of make to Debian.
