AFAIK, @-codes get processed in the BBS serial output routines somewhere.  
(I think DM explained all this to me back in 1993 or something, so forgive 
me if I'm in error.)  If you are using them in a web-page, you need 
something equivilent to SSI support.

I've not been following the web-server development that closely, so I 
don't know what's going on in that area.
