It just came to my attention today. There is an OS in development called "ReactOS" at http://www.reactos.org. It is a TRUE WINDOWS support OS and no it's NOT based on Linux. Once they get a few things hammered out tho, Linux support is not only a popular demand, but to go beyond FAT32, a straight up requirement. Right now its pretty good. Most of the "serious" bugs have been worked out although Networking Support is lacking and is a priority right now. For Synchronet Sysops who are sick of Windows but want to run Windows apps and don't take well ro Linux, ReactOS seems like a feasable near-future solution. I went to their irc channel and low and behold the first person I talk to is a Synchronet Sysop in OH thinking along the same lines. He's a coder / developer for the OS and his BBS isn't up yet because he is trying to help get the Networking Support working properly so he can install Synchronet on it and make sure ReactOS and Synchronet play nice together. His irc nick on their server is WaxDragon in #reactos. With as many bad-ass coders as Synchronet has, I think both projects could mutually bennefit eachother and help Win32 Synchronet Sysops get AWAY from running Winblowz. If any coders wish to look at the project who may not already be aware of its existance, that would be nice. There may also be other "closet BBS'ers" in the ReactOS mix as well. Where theres one, theres got to be more! lol Either way -- would be kinda nice if it eventually got to the point where Synchronet was pre-loaded as server software on ReactOS from install. That would be kinda neat, wouldn't it?
