Instead of 'dir' use 'ls', instead of 'type' use 'cat', and so forth. Also the tools like grep, awk, tail, etc make life SO much easier :) Once SBBS is up and running though, it's about identical to the WIndows install from what I've seen. Your logs and stats are textfiles instead of fancy graphics, but things work pretty much the same way. I'd say the hardest part in using Linux for someone who's not familiar with it is the structure and methods Linux does things. Most Windows folks who try Linux get thrown off by the directory structure and the way Linux mounts drives. There are no drive letters... everything is a file and directory, even devices like your modem, network card, sound card, etc. From using this for so long I can definitely see the advantages of this method, but it's quite different from Windows' methodology. For anyone wanting to learn Linux, I'd suggest downloading Knoppix or another CD-bootable distro. Installing Linux isn't too difficult, specially if you just want a command line environment for SBBS. Also there's TONS of rsources from in here to IRC to newsgroups and more.
