You can't eliminate spam just like you can't eliminate tv commercial breaks and you can't eliminate human stupidity. However, you can break it down to extremely tollerable levels. With Synchronet, I get *hardly any* spam as a result of my list and the dnsbl's I hook into. Sure, I get some -- otherwise i'd NEVER have any updates for the list of my own. lol However as it stands, I get about 0-5 spam emails per day as opposed to the 50+ per day I *used* to get when I didn't run Synchronet. The goal isn't to eliminate spam. It's to minimize it to convenient levels so your not sitting there for an hour shitcanning spam. lol If we can eliminate the majority of it and other people follow our lead, spammers will EVENTUALLY get the clue that their spam being read is only slightly better than their chances of winning the lotto :-) If for every million spam messages that got sent out, 1000 were received, 100 were read, 50 people actually went to the site and 5 people actually bought anything.... the profit they'd make from those 5 people isn't shit compared to the money in bandwdith they spent to send out a million emails! :-) -- .---------------------------------------------------------------. | [TiME WaRRiOR] aka [Dave Kelso] AIM: Twar782 | +o Malkavia BBS | | www : synchsupport.net - malkaviabbs.com - xpresit.net | | www$: josephsjewelersonline.com - preferedinsurance.com | | @: time.warrior@malkaviabbs. com | \______________________________________________________________/ --- Synchronet 3.12a-Win32 NewsLink 1.76 * Malkavia - Chicago, IL - telnet://malkaviabbs.com --- Synchronet 3.13a-Win32 NewsLink 1.83 .
