My personal opinion is that IE sucks hard! I use Firefox for WWW but Filezilla is by far my fave FTP app on Windows and Transmit on OSX. Filezilla is opensource, supports SFTP, and works GREAT! Transmit on OSX is shareware, but it's not much to register.
