Refer to what I said about the Xpresit GT's. 2006 will be the 10th one. Man, where does the time go? lol Chicago also has two other meets (not Synchronet per say, mine isn't Synchronet per say either) as well other than mine. The CBBS Meet (Yep, Ward Christensen, Randy Suess and the rest... ever since 1978! :-) as well as The Omega BBS Meet (omegabbs.dyndns.org) which is a BBS that runs on Cnet Software on the same exact Amiga that is started up on in 1989. Never been to an Omega Meet. I plan on going to the CBBS Meet this upcomming February (I think its in Feb). Both are sorta invite only but sorta not. Meaning, anyone can come but there is no "website" with times, dates or instructions. You need to KNOW someone who attends already. I happen to be aquaintances with Randy and Ward. I don't know them really well and won't claim to be friends with them. But my communications with them thus far have lead me to the opinion that both people are pretty damn cool folks. I am also aquaintances with Rinaldo (Sysop: Omega BBS) but have never attended an Omega Gathering. The only other Gathering i've ever attended was the TSO Gathering (The Shannara Odyesey) in 1996 which was also a very fun time. Only in the BBS Scene can someone you've only talked to online arive at your front door, take you to pick up other people you've never met before to goto a gathering to hang out with even MORE people you've never met before. lol Or shall we say -- only in the scene can this be done without the risk of ending up dead in a ditch as a result. lol I trust the worst assholes in the scene more than I trust some "unknown" off of the regular Internet. The scene does have a pretty nice saftey net that way. The BBS Scene is like an extended family. You have your loved ones, in laws, out laws, people you like, people you can't stand but in the end -- the family reunions always turn out successful. lol -- .---------------------------------------------------------------. | [TiME WaRRiOR] aka [Dave Kelso] AIM: Twar782 | +o Malkavia BBS | | www : synchsupport.net - malkaviabbs.com - xpresit.net | | www$: josephsjewelersonline.com - preferedinsurance.com | | @: time.warrior@malkaviabbs. com | \______________________________________________________________/ --- Synchronet 3.12a-Win32 NewsLink 1.76 * Malkavia - Chicago, IL - telnet://malkaviabbs.com --- Synchronet 3.13a-Win32 NewsLink 1.83 .
