Subj : It's ALIVE!! To : All From : Sam Alexander Date : Fri Sep 16 2005 05:20 pm Hi Everyone, I'm finally getting my board finetuned and working the way I'd like, but I have some questions that maybe you guys can answer. I'm using Synchronet on Linux (Slackware 10.2) because for one thing I don't have a Windows PC at home :) My primary box is OSX and the BBS is running on a 400Mhz Dell box I paid like $20 for. ANyway, here's my questions, and maybe they're not too crazy or cheezy: = What full screen editor do you guys use? I'm VERY partial to Pico because I've used it for 10+ years now, but is there a better one? I installed DOSEMU and I'll start toying with that soon, but Pico is working with only a few bugs. First it adds linebreaks to where it wraps, so I had to force -r78 in the command so it'll wrap at 78 characters. This might throw some readers off, but works on Google. Also when I start a message and hit Ctrl-X to exit, it saves the message. Is there anyway to abort the message with Pico short of leaving the body empty? = Editing users = I posted this on alt.bbs.synchronet before I got dovenet working, but ;uedit crashes the board when I run it and I can't find any other way to edit users. Ideas? = Colors when reading messages = This is more just personal want, but when reading messages is there anyway to have the lines starting with > for quotes to be one color, standard text another, and anything at the end after -- light gray (assuming it's a sig file)? Just would make it easier for me to read the messages, but what's there works great. Also let me note that Dovenet seems to be working now. The next run picked-up more messages, so now only like 2-3 grousp aren't populated, but the important ones I want are. Thanks Rob and everyone for an awesome product and for keeping the BBS world alive. Hopefully my board, with whatever it evolves into, will help keep it going alittle more.
