You can check it by opening a dos window and running the IPCONFIG command. I assume that you have the DSL modem connected directly to the DSL PC via network cable, correct? There is no router in between the PC and the DSL modem? If the IP of your DSL PC is anything like 192.168.*.*, then that is a local IP that can be seen only by your computer and DSL modem. If your DSL modem is setup anything like mine was out of the box (I use Sprint) then it is doing it's own networking for your home network. If that is the case, the ISP assigned IP is likely assigned to the modem, and the modem could be assigning a local IP (192.168.*.*) via DHCP. If that is the case, then nobody from outside your network will be able to see your computer. To fix this, you will have to call tech support and tell them your situation. They may have a procedure for changing the mode of your modem.
