Ryan - If it makes you feel any better it'll be some nice 2d overlays on a 3d scene. (: SERIOUSLY, it's not that much overhead, the only overhead is in how much geometry you use, and a simple 2000-3000 poly model doesn't take THAT much. You should theoretically even be able to still get 60fps on a 450mhz (and yes, I've seen it before, I made a game that ran still at 40-50 fps after all interfaces and models on the scene, AND sound). The 3d will be particularly nice for statistical graphs and what not. I am going to try to code this for varying levels of detail. Like a really low poly version for systems that can't handle 3d very well, and then a highly detailed version for systems that can support pixel shaders and the like (come on...
