Subj : Suggestion: low priority To : All From : Time Warrior Date : Thu Sep 08 2005 07:13 am From Newsgroup: alt.bbs.synchronet Hoping that in the future things like Synchronet will become the standard and not the rule ---- lets not pull an AOL. I think ICQ had the right idea with UIN's. UIN support in the very far, long, distant, extreme back burner, very BOTTOM of the to-do list should be concidered. This Sysop toggle would allow the BBS to ask the user for their "UIN" (Universal Identification Number aka the user number in the SBBS User Editor) after their alias and before their password. Also with this system, as to not confuse the crap out of people in message areas, to / from fields might look something like this: From : Time Warrior (001) To : Digital Man (205) Subject: Suggestion Of course allowing numbers like (4573495734954) to be supported (if they aren't already). This is obviously low proirity because the BBS Scene would have to be in full bloom again for that massive of a dupe handle problem to exist, which if that happens, is at least a few years off. However, it's good to keep an idea like this handy on yea ole metephorical post-it-note "just in case". -- .---------------------------------------------------------------. | [TiME WaRRiOR] aka [Dave Kelso] AIM: Twar782 | +o Malkavia BBS | | www : synchsupport.net - malkaviabbs.com - xpresit.net | | www$: josephsjewelersonline.com - preferedinsurance.com | | @: time.warrior@malkaviabbs. com | \______________________________________________________________/ --- Synchronet 3.12a-Win32 NewsLink 1.76 * Malkavia - Chicago, IL - telnet://malkaviabbs.com --- Synchronet 3.13a-Win32 NewsLink 1.83 .
