Subj : Version 4 Requests... To : All From : Time Warrior Date : Thu Aug 25 2005 05:11 am From Newsgroup: alt.bbs.synchronet With SEXYZ, version 4 and other advancements.... I have a few requests and I am definately not alone in them. I've spoken with a few other Sysops who also agree. If you can't do this by v4 thats fine, I know you've got alot on your plate, Rob. However in my opinion and the opinions of at least a couple other Sysops, these things would be good to have... #1 - Option to use "Long Name" as opposed to "Internal Code" for FTP File Areas. (as it stands, you connect with an FTP client and all the directory names are short and use the Internal Code) #2 - FTP Resume. The user who initiated the upload should have the access to resume / delete / alter the exsisting file should the transfer for some reason get shitcanned. The current lack of this ability has resulted in courupted partly uploaded files and / or the sysop needing to manually delete the file so the user can start the transfer all over again. #3 - Access permitting, the ability to create sub directories via FTP within file areas. Of course this wouldn't show up via telnet but thats why this is a request re: the ftp ability and not telnet :-) #4 - The ability to toggle on or off (user and / or Sysop toggle) public CC. When the user saves a message, the BBS will ask "Would you like to Carbon Copy this message to another area or user?" but it will only ask if the Sysop has it enabled AND the user has this ability toggled on in his or her account settings. Also, a header that says: ** This message was crossposted from: LongName Description of original area #5 - The ability to toggle on or off (user and / or Sysop toggle) which editor you want to use when you reply to or post a new message. It would list it the same way the account config does but would not save the settings. It would only use it for that post. For example, to edit my signature my full screen editor doesn't communicate righr with Synchronet for some reason to do this, so I need to switch to line editor. Or when you need to upload something to an area in Raw Input Mode you also need the line editor for that as well. Not to mention when you hit "M" to mail yourself (or someone else) a copy of a post, a FSE puts the ">" marks and parses the text. If the FSE could be made to not do that when forwarding a post like that -- then the ability to "Choose" your editor would be cool. To not make this feature annoying, a prompt like: Please (S)elect which editor to use or [ENTER] for User Default: -- .---------------------------------------------------------------. | [TiME WaRRiOR] aka [Dave Kelso] AIM: Twar782 | +o Malkavia BBS | | www : synchsupport.net - malkaviabbs.com - xpresit.net | | www$: josephsjewelersonline.com - preferedinsurance.com | | @: time.warrior@malkaviabbs. com | \______________________________________________________________/ --- Synchronet 3.12a-Win32 NewsLink 1.76 * Malkavia - Chicago, IL - telnet://malkaviabbs.com --- Synchronet 3.13a-Win32 NewsLink 1.83 .
