Well, a few reasons spring immediately to mind:
1) It can all be programmed with BAJA/JS... what more source do you need?
2) Very few bits are hardcoded, you rarely need to modify the program to change
stuff the user sees... what more source do you need?
3) It already comes with user "emulation" of other popular BBS packages... what
more source do you need?

None.  None more source.
