SSH would be nice tho! :-) Really, among many other things, what I think makes a BBS a TRUE BBS, is: - Being backed by an exe application (web script so-called bbs's dont impress me much) - Echomail Networks and local forums that actually support a "valid to field" (privately run forums with good security measures eliminate the whole "spam" issue.) - A sense of community and cooperation (piss off enough people in The BBS Scene and you'll be ejected from it by default. The rest of the internet does not hold such consiquences and premotes flaming and harassment for the pure and simple fact that one can do so and get away with it. The alt.bbs groups are the only ones on the net that i see with little to no spam and flamer problems, in comparison with other groups on Usenet. - ANSI / Telnet support doesn't nessarily make or break a BBS but I think even if in the future no one uses it, it needs to stay implimented as a reminder of just how much went into getting from where we were to where we are. That all this didn't happen over night and didn't just magically appear one day in the late 90's out of nowhere. - One Liners, Door Games, BBS Lists, BBS-Style File Areas that support file_id.diz and other similar aspects that set a BBS apart from "everything else". - The constat and enforced exchange of knowledge and encouragement for learning and researching to expand your mind, solve problems and be productive. - Alot more that I don't feel like listing. -- .---------------------------------------------------------------. | [TiME WaRRiOR] aka [Dave Kelso] AIM: Twar782 | +o Malkavia BBS | | www : synchsupport.net - malkaviabbs.com - xpresit.net | | www$: josephsjewelersonline.com - preferedinsurance.com | | @: time.warrior@malkaviabbs. com | \______________________________________________________________/ --- Synchronet 3.12a-Win32 NewsLink 1.76 * Malkavia - Chicago, IL - telnet://malkaviabbs.com --- Synchronet 3.12b-Win32 NewsLink 1.83 .
