I've had thoughts on something like this for a long time (I posted about it 
when I started work on Psylent). What this is going to have to entail though 
is the writing of clients to support networks that would utilize some new 
protocol, flash doesn't give you a whole lot of power to do everything you 
need with a board. I think something like the SVG format is a good place to 
start in making a scripting language and protocol that allows sysops to make 
animations for their system menus and such.
