yes, sync is pretty damned configurable.. beyond this, the ansi file isn't 
embedded inside the shell itself (as in obv/2) ... it's about 100% 
configurable without modding the sync source itself.

they're permanent, once a user id is used, that user may be inactive/deleted 
and once the "waiting" period (configurable) has passed, it is reused for a 
new user account.
