I used to work for a company that sold their product (a PCI video conferencing adapter) for both PCs and Macs and watched in wonder at the Mac developer typing away at a black on white Mac debugger (full-)screen. Yes, it exists. In Mac OS X, there's even a user-level command shell available (e.g. bash).
